The Little-Known Reason Hell Is Full of Emotional Torment

by | Apr 28, 2021 | Evangelism, Spirit-Led Living

When sharing my 23 Minutes In Hell experience, I’m often asked about the physical aspects of hell, or the things I may have observed. What I’m asked about much less is the emotional torment of hell, yet this is something every person should fully understand. I’ve mentioned on numerous occasions that everything good comes from God, including His love. The Bible says that perfect love casts out all fear. Many don’t realize that there is no hint of God or His love in hell; therefore, there is nothing to combat the fear and tormenting emotions that exist in hell. There is no comfort, no good memories and no assurance of hope. The emotional torment in hell is far beyond what most people could possibly imagine. We are created to experience love, joy and hope. In hell, none of these exist.

Jesus said in Matthew 25:41 that hell was prepared for the devil and his angels. He never intended for man to go to this horrible place. It was prepared for the devil. Hell is so terrible because God has removed His goodness or His attributes from hell. James 1:17a says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights.” All the good we enjoy in life comes from God. It’s not automatic. God simply removed His goodness in the preparation of hell.

Hell is dark because 1 John 1:5 says God is light.

There’s only death in hell because John 1:4 says God is life.

There’s only hatred in hell because 1 John 4:16 says God is love.

There’s no mercy in hell because Psalms 36:5 says the mercy of the Lord is in the heavens.

There’s no strength in hell because Psalms 18:32 says it’s the Lord who gives us strength.

There’s no water in hell because Deuteronomy 11:11 says water is the rain of heaven.

There is no peace in hell because Isaiah 9:6 says He is the Prince of Peace.

If God removes His goodness or His attributes, all the good goes with Him. We don’t fully realize how much goodness we experience every day from God because we are accustomed to having it. We take the simplest things for granted, ignoring the comfort, joy and delight they bring to us. In hell, there is nothing to produce such feelings.

Thankfully, because of what Jesus did on the cross, no one has to experience the lack of goodness. It is our choice to believe and avoid the emotional torment of hell. {eoa}

What America’s Memorial Day Means for Israel

Each year, I try to think of how to depict Memorial Day in Israel in a way that's meaningful and juxtapose it in relation to how it's observed in the US. Many thoughts race through my head. And each year. I see Memorial Day through a different prism. This year's prism...

Is God Speaking Through Déjà Vu?

Is God Speaking Through Déjà Vu?

The occurrence of déjà vu has confounded people for millennia. St. Augustine is credited as being the first to reference the concept of déjà vu, while it was French philosopher Emile Boirac who coined the term "déjà vu" in 1890. But is there something more to the...

Pentecost: Holy Living for Our Holy God

In 1 Thessalonians, chapter 4, the apostle Paul instructed the believers, by the authority of the Lord Jesus, about “how you are to walk and to please God.” He bluntly told them it was “God’s will” for them to “avoid sexual immorality” (v. 3; NIV). The Greek word Paul...

Why Believers Must Develop a Heavenly Mindset
