How to Bridge the Gap Between God’s Plan and Its Fulfillment

by | Apr 30, 2021 | Purpose & Identity

There are times in my life where I feel like I am on a rickety old bridge trying to get to the other side. The wind is howling; the drop is massive; my knees are shaking; and my faith feels weak. Can you relate?

In these moments, God can seem so far away, and faith can seem nonexistent. In these moments, we think about the fact that faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain. But what looks good on paper can be challenging to navigate on the rickety bridge as we try to make it to the other side.

Recently, I came across the statement, “Faith—it’s that pause between knowing what God’s plan is and seeing it take place.” I can think of many past moments when I wrestled with that in-between space, where the plan downloaded by God didn’t seem to be happening. I can think of times when that plan eventually manifested. However, I can also think of times when it didn’t.

Walking with God can be a challenge. Not only does He see things differently than we do, but His timing also seems to be quite different than ours. And it’s worth considering that so is His vantage point. Let us just say that it is immeasurably unlike ours.

However, in the midst of all that, He is not only our refuge, but He is also faithful (Ps. 91:4, 2 Thess. 3:3). He is for us and not against us (Rom. 8:31). His plans for us are good (Jer. 29:11, Rom. 8:28). He has a future for you (Heb. 13:20-21).

Next time you are on that rickety bridge, keep focused. You are not alone!

Is God Speaking Through Déjà Vu?
