Jesus Is Coming Soon: Are You Ready?

My question for you is this: “Are you ready?” Are you ready to face the Almighty God; the God who knows and sees everything you have every said or done and knows your heart from the inside, in spite of how you present yourself on the outside?

So, what will the day of the Lord be to you? Have you really thought about it?

“For the day is near, even the day of the Lord is near, a cloudy day, it shall be the time of doom for the nations” (Ezek. 30:3).

“Alas for the day! For the day of the LORD is near, and like devastation from the Almighty it comes” (Joel 1:15).

“Blow the ram’s horn in Zion, sound the alarm on My holy mountain! All the inhabitants of the earth will tremble, because the day of the Lord has come, because it is near—a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness” (Joel 2:1-2a).

Who is blowing the trumpet today in the church, sounding the alarm, warning all those who claim to be Christians that the day of the Lord is coming? It is near and it is a day of darkness and gloom rather than a day of peace and safety for all those who still live in sin.

Isn’t the message today more about having salvation without a cross, blessings rather than judgment, prosperity of material things rather than holiness and healing of the body rather than of the soul?

Who is warning about the dangers of sin and worldliness today? When is the last time your pastor preached a message that brought the fear of the Lord upon you? So do you really want Jesus to come; do you know what you are hoping for? Do you really think you are ready because you prayed the sinner’s prayer or because you belong to a church somewhere? Do you think you are ready because you got baptized or speak in tongues or were confirmed by a priest or because you donate money or because you did some good deeds?

The Jesus who is coming is the Almighty God, the God of love and the God of wrath. Do you really understand who He is, who Jesus really is and what it will be like when He comes? The description of Jesus in Revelation 1 is of Almighty God with eyes like fire, feet like burnished bronze, a face like the brightness of the sun, a voice like Niagara waterfalls and a sharp two-edged sword coming out of His mouth.

He is coming to redeem His few who found the narrow way and to bring judgment on the many who went the broad way. He is not the passive, little, timid, mild Jesus of modern American Christianity who excuses sin by passing out grace like candy and who is petting the little lambs. No, this is the Almighty God, the awesome God, the God of the great judgment, the God who brings wrath on all ungodliness and unrepentant sin and out of whose mouth comes the sharp two-edged sword.

Who can face Him if he is not completely right with Him? So are you ready? Are you really ready to meet Jesus, the real Jesus, not the Baptist Jesus or the charismatic Jesus or the Catholic Jesus or any other Jesus invented by man, but the real Jesus, the one who will judge the world and who will judge you and I and will cast anyone into hell if he is not completely His and conformed into His image. If not, are you going to get ready?

“Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain but are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfected before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you” (Rev. 3:2-3).
