Jesus’ Millennial Reign: Believers Have Reason to Shout

Believers have a great reason to be excited about Jesus' Millennial reign.

It is not possible in just one chapter to provide an exhaustive teaching on everything there is to know about the Millennium, although believe me, I’d love to!

Studying and teaching on the Millennium is truly a passion of mine, but it will have to wait for yet another future book! I will, however, attempt to give you the highlights from Scripture, because I want my excitement about the Millennium to be contagious—not only to give you hope for the future and keep you standing strong, but also to mobilize you to make a difference for today. As you’ll soon see, the Millennium will reveal what you can do now in the midst of this out-of-control, corrupt and unrighteous world.

First, a brief overview of the Millennium. In the simplest explanation, the Millennium is the 1,000-year period that begins after Jesus stands on the Mount of Olives, annihilates all the kings of the earth who have come to battle against Jerusalem, and all Israel is saved (Rev. 20:2-7; Zech. 12, 14). At the start of the Millennium, Satan is thrown into the abyss where he stays for the 1,000 years (Rev. 20:2-3), Jesus builds His Millennial Temple in Jerusalem (Zech. 6:12), and begins His reign as King over all the earth (Zech. 14:9)!

What Will You Be Doing in the Millennium?

Have you ever thought about what you will be doing after you die or are raptured up in the clouds with Jesus? Many of us picture it like the ultimate vacation or perhaps the perfect retirement community. We will finally catch up on our rest, lie around on the clouds, and nothing will be expected of us.

Now that might sound fun and enticing for a few days or even a few weeks, but I think at some point most of us would get pretty bored! As I heard one teacher put it, “We’ll wish we would have brought more magazines to read while we are floating around on the clouds!” Well, I’ve got good news! As usual, what God has planned for you is exceedingly better than all you could ever think, ask or imagine! You will actually be ruling and reigning with Jesus! You will be “working,” but with the perfect boss, finally implementing righteousness throughout all the nations of the earth!

“And (You) have made us kings and priests unto our God; and we shall reign on the earth” (Rev. 5:10).

“He said to him, ‘Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in very little, take authority over ten cities'” (Luke 19:17).

But wait! There’s even more to look forward to.

What Will You Look Like in the Millennium?

You will be ruling and reigning with Jesus implementing righteousness throughout the earth in perfect, spiritual, immortal bodies. Those who you will be ruling over (the tribulation survivors and their children) will have physical, mortal bodies.

So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. … In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. … For this corruptible will put on incorruption, and this mortal will put on immortality (1 Cor. 15:42-44, 52, 53).

“For the child shall die a hundred years old, but the sinner being a hundred years old shall be accursed” (Is. 65:20).

“They shall not go to a dead person to defile themselves” (Ezek. 44:25).

Where Will You Live in the Millennium?

You’ll be living in the New Jerusalem—that perfect place Jesus has been preparing for the past 2,000 years—just for you! I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait until the Millennium!

“I, John, saw the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband” (Rev. 21:2).

“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, you may be also” (John 14:2-3). {eoa}
