If an Angel Appeared to You, What Would You Do?

As we begin this new year with many unparalleled historic challenges, we are reminded of a divine encounter that George Washington had in 1777 at Valley Forge concerning America’s birth, process and destiny. He was introduced to the angel over America whose name is Union. The angel showed him three great perils that would come upon America.

The first peril was the Revolutionary War; the second peril was the Civil War, and the third peril, which the angel told Washington would be the most fearful of the three perils, is what we are experiencing at this moment in time.

However, we refuse to focus on the fear of the moment, but instead, we will fix our eyes upon the outcome of this peril.

Washington recounts, “Instantly a light as of a thousand suns shone down from above me, and pierced and broke into fragments the dark cloud which enveloped America. At the same moment the angel upon whose head still shone the word ‘union,’ and who bore our national flag in one hand and a sword in the other, descended from the heavens attended by legions of white spirits. These immediately joined the inhabitants of America, who I perceived were well-nigh overcome, but who immediately taking courage again, closed up their broken ranks and renewed the battle.”

Psalm 33:10-12 (TPT) says: “With his breath he scatters the schemes of nations who oppose him; they will never succeed. His destiny-plan for the earth stands sure. His forever-plan remains in place and will never fail. Blessed and prosperous is that nation who has God as their Lord! They will be the people he has chosen for his own.”
