Dreampilots is a Norwegian rock band that offers an eclectic mix of musical styles with sounds reminiscent of decades ago. Yet the music on their North American debut, Comedown, is fresh and modern.

The foursome from Scandinavia first started as a ministry project. Frontman Oddi Nessa followed God’s call and started traveling the Norwegian countryside with his guitar and Bible. His mission was simply to share Jesus with anyone who would listen. Eventually he was joined by bass player Gulleiv Wee, keyboardist Inge Engelsvold and drummer Karl Oluf Wennerberg, and Dreampilots were formed.

The title track speaks to our need to forget the chaos and busyness of life and focus on hearing God’s voice. “Begging You” is a plea for God to help us escape, resist and flee our flesh and the temptations we face. “Walking Through Walls” speaks of the walls of religion but also those we erect in our own lives because of shame, fear, pride. True life in Jesus brings freedom and unity, not bondage and division.

The band doesn’t want to just create great-sounding music; they also want to connect lyrically with their audience. “We recognize our responsibility as a band to do what we can for humanity while upon a world stage,” Nessa says. “But of equal importance is connecting with the human being who is standing in front of our stage who is jaded and confused, and has lost his ability to know truth. That person has lost their moral compass and ethical boundaries. The desperate part of that situation is that the 14-year-old kid in the audience is the person who will represent our future.”
