Paula White Cain: Trump’s Anointed SOTU Address Must Prompt Us to Pray!

Conservative Christians across the United States last night were encouraged to hear President Donald Trump deliver a bold State of the Union Address that supported biblical values. Some have said it was the most pro-life State of the Union Address our generation has ever heard. Pastor Paula White Cain, who has known and acted as a spiritual adviser to Trump for the last 18 years, told me in an exclusive interview that the address was anointed and profound—and should serve as a clarion call for all believers to pray. (Listen to the entire interview at the end of this article!)

“From start to finish, [his speech] was absolutely astounding,” Paula told me. “And I would go even further to say that he was anointed last night. Now, I personally know that there are literally millions of people who have been activated in the United States of America and around the world who yesterday were praying, fasting and holding our president up, that he would be the mouthpiece God would breathe through.”

Charisma News reported on the address and prominent believers’ reactions to such a pro-Christian message. If you didn’t get a chance to watch the president speak, you can click here to read the full transcript. I also appeared on Kenneth Copeland’s Voice of Victory broadcast that very night to speak about the SOTU address. Click here to watch that episode!

As many Christians have pointed out, one of the highlights of Trump’s speech was his strong emphasis on pro-life values.

“There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our Nation saw in recent days,” Trump said. “Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world. And then, we had the case of the Governor of Virginia where he basically stated he would execute a baby after birth.”

The president didn’t stop there. He then boldly called Congress to action, encouraging them to outlaw this insane and barbaric law.

“To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb,” he said. “Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children—born and unborn—are made in the holy image of God.”

Of course, Trump didn’t only address the horrors of abortion. He called on Congress to protect America’s workers, to end the human and sex trafficking spread through illegal immigration and to protect our freedom by rejecting the seductive evils of socialism. He once more reiterated his determination to build a wall on our Southern border. But above all, he called the country to unity—to work hard toward the common goal of growth and safety.

Other Christians joined Paula in praising Trump’s address, thanking POTUS for saying what needed to be said.

Franklin Graham wrote: “Thank you @POTUS @realDonaldTrump for covering the priorities of our nation so clearly in tonight’s State of the Union address. It is my prayer that all Americans would support working together in a bipartisan way to solve the problems we face.”

CBN’s David Brody called last night’s speech the most pro-life State of the Union address ever.

“No other president has ever been so bold in their words describing the national immoral horror and impact of late term abortion,” Brody tweeted.

The best response to this address, Paula says, is prayer—especially as Trump’s meeting with Kim Jong Un in Vietnam comes up later this month.

“This is at the forefront of Sec. [Mike] Pompeo and our president—to see a complete denuclearization [of North Korea],” Paula told me. “And as I was glad to hear last night, regarding the meeting coming up, we all need to be activated in prayer. Steve, I just reiterate that over and over. We know that it is prayer that is carrying—I believe it has brought an awakening to believers in this nation—and that it is carrying not only the decisions of this nation but of this administration.”

I couldn’t agree more with Paula. If we want to see Trump’s words come to pass in our nation, we have to pray. We have to fast. We have to intercede. Just imagine what we could accomplish for God’s glory if Christians across the U.S. joined in fervent prayer. We must, as Paula put it in her conversation with me, “stand for righteousness.”
