During this time of quarantine, it’s interesting to learn that Sir Isaac Newton went through a quarantine too. It was during 1665 when a plague was sweeping through Europe. Cambridge shut down, and for two years, Newton was confined to his home.
But he used his time wisely. He used his skills in observation and analysis to outline the laws of motion, optics and calculus. This was in addition, of course, to coming up with what we now call the law of gravity. Yet that’s not all Newton came up with—he also left behind an incredible riddle about the end times.
Neill Russell, a former science teacher who now teaches truth about God’s creation, wrote a book about this riddle titled Newton’s Riddle. I interviewed Russell recently about his new website, godsgranddesign.com, where he exposes the lie of evolution, which Satan has been using to undermine the Word of God in America. I interviewed him again about this mind-blowing riddle Newton left behind.
Many know Newton for his scientific discoveries, but fewer know that he did many intensive studies into biblical prophecy. More specifically, Newton looked deeply at the end-times prophecies found in the book of Daniel.
“God made a covenant with Abraham,” Russell says. “It’s recorded in Genesis 12:3—that He would bless those who bless Abraham’s descendants, and He would curse those who curse them. And the entire book of Newton’s Riddle is based upon that one fact. And Newton knew about this.”
Russell says God has given very clear warnings about cursing His people, and that includes dividing the land of Israel. And although in the past, the U.S. has had its arms open to Israel, several of our nation’s leaders have attempted to divide the land and snub Israel. As a result, America has already endured several curses.
In 1994, then-President Bill Clinton met with Syria’s president to pressure Israel into giving them the Golan Heights. The morning after this meeting, Russell says, a 6.9 earthquake rocked Southern California, making it the second-worst natural disaster at that time after Hurricane Andrew.
In 1998, Sec. Madeleine Albright worked on the final details of an agreement in which Israel would give up 13% of Judea and Samaria. That same day, Hurricane Georges slammed into the Gulf Coast.
A year later, Bill Clinton gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a very cold reception, and Sec. Albright snubbed him by refusing to have lunch with him. That was the very day the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke, which eventually led to Clinton’s impeachment and downfall.
“Now I can go on and on and show you this,” Russell says. “But this is the premise of Newton’s riddle. Anytime our country or any country goes against God’s covenant land and God’s covenant promise that He made Abraham, these things have happened.”
But for some reason, pastors don’t preach on this. Russell says it’s because Satan has blinded people’s eyes to this mystery. He says Satan knows that when Jesus returns, He will return in Israel. So the devil’s goal is to eradicate the state of Israel so this can’t happen.
“God saw down the line that there would come a time when Israel would become a nation, and that the United States, as I believe Isaac Newton saw, would support its existence,” Russell says. “And the only reason that Israel’s on Earth today, besides God’s prophetic plan, was that there was a friendly nation to support its existence. But in the Bible, it says that all nations at one time in the future will withdraw their support from Israel. And that time is very, very near.”
