Oh, Don’t Mind Us

My daughter, Dana, whose baby was overdue, came over and tried to find a comfortable seat on the couch. As she shifted around, she complained, “This baby is just sitting in here eating and sleeping.”

Her 4-year-old son, Nathan, overheard her and asked, “Does she have a TV?”
–Kayla Kirkland One afternoon, while shopping with my four daughters, I spotted a box of cards that I thought my oldest daughter would like for her birthday. As I looked them over, I noticed out of the corner of my eye that one of my girls had walked up and was standing beside me.

Leaning over, I whispered, “Let’s get this for Ashleigh’s birthday.”

“Mom,” she whispered back, “I am Ashleigh!”

When I was growing up, our family of four took drives on Sunday afternoons and stopped to look through model homes. One particular Sunday, after seeing three of the four homes in a cul-de-sac, my dad decided that we might as well look at the fourth one, too.

The smell of a delicious Sunday dinner greeted us. “Boy, they sure make these models realistic,” my dad commented.

We continued to explore the house and were very impressed by the practical touches in every room. Before we left, we entered the dining room where, to our surprise, we found another family of four seated around their dinner table.

The alarmed looks on their faces told us this was definitely not one of the models!

A preacher’s daughter was asked if her father ever preached the same sermon more than once. She replied, “Yes, I think he does; but he hollers in different places.”
