Chuck Parry is the director of the Bethel Healing Rooms in Redding, California. His life has been full of signs and wonders. He was saved out of the psychedelic drug culture through a supernatural encounter in the 1970s. Parry has seen God do powerful things throughout his life as he has poured into students from around the world teaching them biblical principles he has learned.
I had the honor of having a conversation with Parry on my podcast, Adventures in the Spirit with Jared Laskey on the Charisma Podcast Network. He shared testimonies of seeing COVID-19 healed, of a paralyzed person rising up out of their wheelchair, completely healed through a Zoom prayer session and of kids being used by God to prophesy.
I was struck the most during our conversation when Parry testified how God had changed weather patterns in his life. I’ve read about this in the Bible, such as where Jesus commanded the storm to stop on the sea of Galilee in Mark 4:35-41. And I had one incident in my life where a friend and I prayed for weather to change over a transcendental meditation event we walked into in New York City and God did, dispersing the crowd. But hearing about God changing the weather on a regular basis in Parry’s life intrigued me. So I asked him to elaborate on it.
Parry said (and I paraphrase), “We’d have outdoor weddings, outdoor church services and see the harmful weather coming … We’d declare ‘open heavens, blue sky coming through.’ A lot of times there were disasters we needed to avert. One time there was this New Age festival and there were a lot of people, and we were preaching the gospel in an open meadow, and all of a sudden these black clouds came rolling over the mountain, pouring down rain coming right toward us. So I said to everybody, ‘It says in Matthew 18 that if two of you on earth agree in Jesus’ name, it will be done by the Father in heaven. So turn around, look at the storm coming at us, and we will command the storm to part in the middle and go around us, rain on the woods on both sides of us but to be sunny over us.’ We declared that, and the storm did exactly what we commanded it to do.”
Parry said the key is knowing this: When you see a giant storm cloud, on the other side of the cloud there is a sun and a blue sky. He said, “It is like the circumstances of life. Cancer is like a storm cloud; sickness, financial ruin and relational dysfunction are storm clouds. And when we look through that storm cloud the kingdom of heaven is on the other side. This is faith. We see what is in heaven and start calling it in and command the clouds to part.”
Knowing these principles, Parry shares that changing the weather will also empower you to pray for healing for others. Nothing is impossible with God. Listen to the full interview now. {eoa}
