Meghann Bowman desperately wanted to have a baby, but doctors told her it was impossible.

“My body doesn’t work like other people’s bodies,” Bowman said. She was diagnosed with hypothalamic amenorrhea. “When your body doesn’t ovulate, it’s hard to have a baby.”

The Bowmans tried all sorts of treatments with no success.

Miscarriage followed miscarriage, and Bowman wrestled with the Lord over deep theological questions about His goodness and her worth. She asked painful questions, but the Lord began to reveal himself.

“When we delight ourselves in the Lord and all of his goodness and He will give me the desires of my heart, that doesn’t mean ‘Love God and He’ll give you a baby,'” Bowman says.

“What He has in store for us may or may not be what you hope for or expect,” Bowman says. “Regardless, His love and goodness are always present.”

But still she struggled—until she found a prayer that really began to revolutionize her spiritual life.
