Why There is Power in Your Song

by | Jun 27, 2022 | Purpose & Identity, Revival

Do you have a great voice? If so, then sing!

Do you have a horrible voice? If so, then sing!

There is power in the song. God gave you your vocal cords, voice and ability to sing.

There has never been a culture in which music was not part of society. We see music communicated in everything from cave dwellings to weddings, funerals, parades and more. Do you sing in the shower? Isn’t it amazing how great our voices sound in the privacy of the shower? And yes, God created us for so much more!

  • James 5:13 encourages us to sing out our praises.
  • Psalm 28:7 talks about jumping for joy and bursting forth with ecstatic, enthusiastic praise and singing songs to God.
  • Colossians 3:16 reminds us to instruct one another with Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
  • Ephesians 5:18-19 tells us to allow our hearts to overflow with a song to the Lord.

The joy of the Lord is our strength (Neh. 8:10). When we are joyful, a lightness comes into our lives. Anxiety and fear cannot find a home. It is easy for a song to burst forth when we are joyful. However, when we are struggling with fear, insecurity, pain or disappointment, we can sing our way right out of the pain when we align the songs with the heart of God.

God gave us praise, worship and song as a powerful weapon. Amid a song to the Lord, not only do we get an attitude adjustment, but the demonic cannot stand. Sometimes the best stance against a demonic attack is to extravagantly worship God, including dancing, shouting  and playing instruments.

Within the body of Christ, the power of the song is a gift and a weapon. The challenge is that we have not used this gift and weapon to its fullest corporately or individually. You are in a season to find your voice and sing. You will be amazed at what God does in and through you.

Heavenly Father, I ask Your forgiveness for not realizing the importance and power of my voice for Your kingdom. I ask for forgiveness for when I have used my voice against Your ways in anger, frustration, doubt, fear and depression. Heavenly Father, I invite You to sanctify my voice to bring glory to You. I come into alignment with who You have created me to be. I will sing out praise to You, and I will allow my heart to overflow with the song of the Lord. Release within me the courage to sing forth with conviction and power the praise of Your name. In Jesus name, amen. {eoa}

Messianic Rabbi: He That Has an Eye, Let Him Hear

It is interesting that, as a Messianic rabbi the question I am asked most often by Christians is if I believe that they as Christians have to celebrate, or observe, the biblical Holy Days. They are usually asking about those days listed in Leviticus 23: Shabbat, Yom...

How the Holy Spirit Is Preparing America

As the crackdown against Christianity in America grows, it is a cycle believers have seen before. While no one celebrates their religious freedom coming under attack, God has used this persecution to great effect throughout history. Over the centuries, there have been...

The Biblical Way to Rise Above Mediocre Expectations

The Biblical Way to Rise Above Mediocre Expectations

We spend a lot of life figuring out if we “measure up,” a phrase someone coined in the mid-1800s. Even in childhood, we begin comparing ourselves with siblings and kids at school, and it never seems to stop. The problem goes back to Cain and Abel, doesn’t it? Most of...

Why Does God Want Us to Speak with Tongues?

Why speak with tongues? There are many reasons for speaking in a spiritual language. Primarily, though, the Scriptures require it. The apostle Paul commanded us, saying, “Pray in the Spirit always” (Eph. 6:18). Jude commanded it in verse 20, saying, “Pray in the Holy...

Why God’s Rebuilding is Better Than His Restoration

Why America Must Adopt the Battle Cry of Isaiah

A battle cry is used to summon armies to war. A loud, unified shout could intimidate the strongest of enemies. Confidence in battle often tilts the scale toward victory, whereas timidity, fear and cowardliness will surely lead to defeat. In these dreadful times, don’t...
