Does your hope feel shaken?

Much of the world has been dealing with difficult circumstances in this last season. Many have been facing COVID-19, financial struggles, isolation and fear of what’s to come. Our hope is being tested in the midst of these difficult and uncertain times.

I’ve been confronted with the reality of hope many times. Through sickness, disease, loss, betrayal and hardship, the reality of where I’ve placed my hope has been put to the test.

There have been many moments when I felt like I was drowning, but in the perfect time, God took what the enemy meant for evil and turned it around for good.

I remain hopeful because I have faith in a God who is faithful. Faith deals with the present while hope deals with that is to come.

When I find myself struggling with hope, I have three questions that I ask myself to help realign my perspective with Father God. If you are struggling with hope, read these questions, invite Holy Spirit to join you and write down the answers that come to you.

— Where have you placed your hope? Is your hope in something other than God’s faithfulness?

— To whom have you given your heart? I will not give my heart to any lesser lover. I’m giving my heart to the King and His kingdom.

— For what do you stand? Today, I am one day closer to my breakthrough.

Fear has been knocking on the door, but let’s make sure we’re sending faith, hope or love to answer that door.

When we feel tested, we rarely get to choose the way we are tested, but we get to choose how we respond in the face of testing. He is building things in you. He wastes nothing.

“Not only so, but we also boast in tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces patience, patience produces character, and character produces hope. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us” (Rom. 5:3-5).
