What are your heart’s deepest desires? How can you realize your full God-ordained potential? The concept of “visioneering” is designed to help you answer these questions along with many others.
Visioneering explores practical concepts and life application strategies for personal and professional growth with biblical alignment. Proverbs 19:18 states that, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
Just as special operations in the military often require specialized training, so your own personal vision needs specialized development of its own. After all, you can only put into practice what you’ve trained for.
How do you discover the Lord’s vision for your life? If you follow the Pinnacle Leaders Podcast on Charisma Podcast Network, you know I’ve been focusing on the connection between “presence, purpose and plans.” When you enter into the presence of God, your purpose is revealed. Then, once you’ve discovered your purpose, you can begin to develop goals and strategies that align with heavenly plans.
As creative beings made in the image of our Creator, our first step in discovering our vision is using the gift of imagination. Ask the Holy Spirit to partner with you in dreaming about His vision for your life. The big vision that is revealed will help you stay the course as you carry out the smaller goals necessary to achieve it.
Widely known as a “transformational expert” for individuals, schools and businesses, Dr. Lisa Helton recently served as a guest of the Pinnacle Leaders Podcast to share wisdom on this novel topic of visioneering. She recommends a visioner take the first step by writing his or her vision down. The importance of writing down our vision is modeled after God’s example; He wrote down His vision for us in the Bible.
Beware the tactics of the enemy, who would love nothing better than to cloud your vision. Most often, these distractions come in the form of outside voices that would drown out the voice of God. Any guru or self-proclaimed spiritual leader can say something that’s true. However, as kingdom leaders, we need the whole truth. Don’t let anyone else’s voice be louder than the voice of God.
As you engineer your vision, intentionally develop an environment around you that will promote your growth. Be tenacious and resolute about this commitment. The world is constantly changing, and leaders need to be fluid. Yet don’t get off course in the name of “adapting.” It’s true that life can change overnight from the weight of the unexpected. During such seasons, it’s necessary to walk, not run. Just make sure you’re walking toward the vision God has created for your life.
If you get lost, remember that your ultimate purpose is intimacy with God and doing His work. Focus on that truth.
