Untold Secrets to Live a Holy Life: Part 1

What does it mean to live a holy life? Holiness is becoming like God, developing His attributes and displaying the fruit of the Spirit. Holiness and religion are the opposite of each other. This is an important distinction! If one is too implanted into the legalism of religion, it is difficult to understand the meaning of the word “holy.”

Holiness is not about appearance. Yes, your outside appearance is a reflection of your internal holiness but holiness is about what is on the inside. Remember what the Bible says in 1 Samuel 16:7: “But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.'”

A religious spirit judges the outside of the book and does not care about what is on the inside. Jesus is not religion! He thinks outside of the box. There are several women in the Bible that display how God used them to explain holiness, despite their promiscuous and scandalous pasts. Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary all have powerful stories of redemption and holiness after becoming saved by faith.

A sign of having a holy life is a display of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. If you want to know the purity of a person’s heart, look at the fruit in his or her life. The start of holiness is the pursuit of holiness! It is a constant walk. Pray for a baptism of the Holy Spirit, for nothing else but God. The more you have holiness, the more you have the power of God in your life. As you become more like Jesus, signs and wonders will follow you. When you talk like Jesus, walk like Jesus, love like Jesus, have compassion like Jesus, pray for the sick like Jesus, this is walking in holiness! {eoa}
