How Social Media Seduces Believers to Surrender Their Spiritual Fruit

We’ve worried about the dark side of many things over the last 12 months:

— Is the coronavirus an evil plague?

— Will the vaccine give me the mark of the beast?

— Could the election be unleashing the Antichrist?

— Is the government trying to silence and cancel churches?

These fears and concerns can be really overwhelming. And while most of us aren’t 100% certain about the answers to any of these, we can be sure about one thing: Somewhere in the midst of all of this darkness, the enemy has been laughing.

For all of our concerns about what the enemy might be doing, I think we may have missed what he has been doing.

He has convinced so many of us that making a point is the same thing as making a difference.

He’s tricked us into believing that sharing how we are offended is the same as taking a stand.

It’s almost as if Christians have begun to believe that outrage is a fruit of the Spirit.

In a recent episode of the Leading Simple with Rusty George podcast on Charisma Podcast Network, Facebook insider and social media expert Nona Jones makes a strong case: “Many of us behave on social media in a way that hinders our cause more than it helps it.”

She even explains the demonic influence she sees taking place on social media, and it’s not exactly what you might have assumed.

But in all of this, let us not forget that we’ve been told how to fight our enemy:

“Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil” (Eph. 6:10-11).

This armor? It’s one of peace, righteousness, the Spirit, the Word and salvation.

Anger and outrage are not our weapons. Love is. Do you believe this?
