Remember, O Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes. —Isaiah 38:3

The second longing that I associate with the bridal paradigm is a desire to be wholehearted and passionate. Our hearts were created as the seat of great desire and passion; therefore, experiencing this desire is also very important for spiritual health. It is not enough to know that God wants us. We also need to know that we are giving ourselves to Him with all of our hearts. If we have nothing to die for, we’ll have nothing to live for. We enjoy loving Jesus with all our hearts. Living in a state of spiritual passivity and boredom makes us vulnerable to Satan’s attacks. Loving and serving with a whole heart pleases the Lord, but there is more to it than that. Many believers attempt to live in the grace of God without abandonment to God. We need to experience grace that leads us to the joy of wholehearted living and loving.

{ PRAYER STARTER }

Move me from wholehearted service to You, dear Father, into a passionate desire to abandon myself to Your will and purposes for my life.

A wholehearted God designed me to need and to
long to be wholehearted!
