Singer/songwriter Heather Evans knows from personal experience that, “In a moment God can change everything.” Her story is one of beauty and redemption, one that you won’t want to miss on this episode of Booth to Ballot on the Charisma Podcast Network.

Going from the hills of Ohio to the mountains of Hollywood entertainment was not an easy journey, and Evans’ family initially struggled with the transition, she tells host Daniella Gibbons. When their moving situation didn’t pan out according to plan, Evans says, “We had to humble ourselves. No. 1, I knew God was like stripping us of, because we put so much of our security in the money that we had and had such a tight grip on it, that He’s like, ‘Hey, I got to teach you to trust Me. And I [have] to strip away the things that you are putting your trust [in] over Me.'”

This lesson proved valuable as the family navigated life in the growing spotlight when Evans’ music career took off, she says. She discovered a love for the lost and the broken living in darkness while recognizing that most in her circle were too afraid to meet them where they were. She took to singing in bars and other “unseemly” places to reach the people she felt God calling her to. Her driving thought became, “[the church is] supposed to be the ones magnetizing people.”

“So I’ve always just felt that calling to not just write songs for the church, but for my music to give hope to people because people need it so desperately,” Evans says.
