How God Hand-Crafted Your Marriage to Be a Miracle

Take a moment to think about what it took for you to marry your spouse. You can plainly see that your marriage is a miracle—a supernatural act of the Lord God Almighty on your behalf.

First, God had to put you both in the same time zone of human history. Then He had to get you to meet by moving one of you across town, state or even across the nations to meet. Then He confused one of you (just kidding) and then you got married.

Seriously though, almost every marriage I have worked with—saved or not—has its own stories of supernatural things that occurred and cemented or verified to both spouses that the other person was the one each should marry.

I do want to make a quick, important point. When God took the rib from Adam, He “closed up the place with flesh” (Genesis 2:21b). God healed Adam from this wound before He brought the woman to him. God did not want this marriage He was about to create to be based upon Adam’s woundedness. God also did not want Adam to look to Eve as a source of healing. Only God can heal us; not a spouse.

I have been abandoned, sexually abused, addicted and more. I had to take responsibility to heal those wounds. Do not let your marriage foundation be your wounds, but rather let the foundation be God healing those wounds. If you need professional help here, I suggest you get it to heal the wounds and inherit a better you in a marriage.

The scene for God’s final creation was set. He made Adam a man, then a servant, and then He made Eve with servant DNA. Then God did something very familiar to Adam, but quite different for this day.

It was normal for Adam to wake from sleep and see God walking toward him with a herd of animals. That day, he saw God walking toward him, but there was no herd making its noisy way up to Adam’s house. That day, one amazingly beautiful creature walked with God toward Adam.

As she walked up, I am sure Adam was wowed. I am sure excitement, wonder and all kinds of feelings and hormones went off inside Adam’s mind and body.

However, he had been trained by God. He knew his place was to serve and think about her needs—her need for identity, her need to be spoken to. Adam was ready to participate in the final creation of God: marriage.

Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, for she was taken out of Man” (Gen. 2:23).

As his first step into marriage, Adam served. He met Eve’s need. He gave her identity. When he did, I am sure every creature in sight roared, squealed or otherwise applauded this first marriage. This was the final creation of God on earth.

God was creating a trinity on earth, just as it is in heaven. He created Adam and made him a servant because only servant DNA could actualize the triune lifestyle. Then He created a trinity, a servant trinity on earth, just as it is in heaven. Three beings all loving one another and serving and sacrificing for the others. This was what God wanted for mankind: He wanted them to become one. This unity would be the environment into which the human race could have been born, had sin not entered the picture.

But thanks be to God who became a man in Christ Jesus and died for our sins so we could once again experience this trinity on earth called marriage—the servant marriage!
