A Holy Tool That Can Help Men Eliminate Their Lust Problem

When I was young and color television first came out, there was a show I really liked called Batman. I can still hear the theme song in my head today.

Honestly, I bought my son some of these shows on DVD, and even years later, I still liked those old Batman shows.

Batman always had some nemesis in the show, whether it was the Joker, the Penguin, Catwoman or some other crazy criminal threatening Gotham City. Then there would always (and I mean always) be the fight scene between the nemesis thugs and Batman and Robin. There would be the balloon captions, “Boom,” “Baam,” “Pow,” and Robin would have some line like, “Holy catnip.”

When I thought about our view of the woman’s body, the first vision I had about this was a caption called, “Holy Hologram!” This is the caption we can all benefit from as we see women moving around in our various environments. The holy hologram view is something I introduced in my book, Clean: A Proven Plan For Men Committed to Sexual Integrity.

Let me explain to you first what a hologram is, and then I’ll share an idea with you about holiness that I’ve never heard before.

When I was newly married to my precious Lisa, we would take dates from Fort Worth over to Dallas. On one of these trips, we found ourselves strolling in a huge warehouse that had all kinds of little unique shops.

In one of the shops where we stopped, they sold holograms. I had never seen anything like these before. Unlike a painting or photograph, which is a one-dimensional representation of an image, these were three-dimensional.

Inside these clear plastic cubes were three-dimensional images of the face of a person, a car, flower or some other object. You could rotate the clear plastic cube in any direction and this image would stay three-dimensional. They really were amazing.

Let’s talk about you and this three-dimensional holograph. You are, at the very least, a three-dimensional being. Paul writes in I Thessalonians 5:23, “May the very God of peace sanctify you completely. And I pray to God that your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

This verse states that we are at least three-dimensional creatures. As a man, you have a spirit. This part of you understands and has intuition beyond just your brain. Then you also have an amazing soul. The soul is your mind and processes faster than any computer and utilizes logic, at least most of the time.

Your soul also composes your will. The human will is probably one of the strongest forces on earth. Our soul has emotions. Emotions are not truth; however, they provide a way to interact with God, others and the environment.

Last, you have a body. I always thought it was odd in my family that we were all so different. My hair and eyes are such a dark brown that they are almost black. My next sibling has lighter brown hair and eyes, the next red hair and blue eyes, and the last blond hair and lighter eyes. We were all amazingly different in hair and eye color.

Your spirit, soul and body are just the tip of the iceberg of your amazing creation as a man. Let me expand a little further than Paul did.

You are a man in a relationship. You have had a relationship as a son to your parents, possibly as a sibling to a brother or sister. You have been in relationships with your neighbors and community throughout your life. You were a student, relating to various teachers and students. You, at some point, had a relationship with God.

You also have had spiritual relationships with various clergy and church members. You have had fun of various kinds, including vacations, sports and creating.

You may be single or married. If married, you have another unique experience being married to another unique being. You may have children or even grandchildren. You’ve probably had amazing successes in life and also some challenges.

My point is this—you are way more than just another pretty face. For anyone to view you just this way is like photograph thinking. You are not a photograph; you are more like a hologram. You are multifaceted in every dimension. To see you as one-dimensional is not to see you at all.

I am sure you know I didn’t spend all this time telling you how amazing you are for no reason. The reason I want you to see the multifaceted being that you are is so you can see the hologram of each woman, instead of a one-dimensional face and body.

Every woman, you see, has a spirit. She is a spirit being placed in a body by God. She was uniquely created by God, she was created for God, and she will ultimately return to God at the end of her life.

She has intuition, and by the firsthand reports from many women I’ve counseled over the years, she can sense when she is being lusted after. Women describe this as feeling slimed.

Every woman you see is an amazing soul. Her mind is full of information and wisdom. She has an amazing will, which is utilized often in her life. She has emotions that have indefinable ranges and can be experienced by everyone she influences.

She has an amazing and unique face as well as body. She is beautiful, yet this is just a fraction of who she is. Just like you, she is much more than the three dimensions of spirit, soul and body.

She is way more than her body parts or a face, which is the box many men try to put women into. She is a daughter of God who would take decades to get to know and understand. Seeing every woman as a hologram can be really helpful.

So, I encourage you, as a man, to go about your day with the knowledge that women are multifaceted. Use the tips here to realize that she is a holy hologram.

A woman is more amazing than her packaging, and only one man who is willing to lay down his life for her in marriage will be fortunate enough to get the privilege of truly knowing her.
