Christian leaders across the world are mourning the death earlier today of evangelist and spiritual mentor Morris Cerullo, or as he was known by many, “Papa,” at 88.

Evangelist Donna Schambach, daughter of renowned worldwide evangelist R.W. Schambach and head of the Schambach Foundation, posted her condolences on Twitter: “One of my father’s lifelong friends passed away last night. Dr. Morris Cerullo’s statesman-like role in missionary evangelism and leadership training will leave a huge vacuum. May God raise up his sons and daughters to continue in his example. Love and prayers to Sister Theresa.”

Award-winning gospel singer Marvin Sapp shared on Instagram, “January 2018 I was in San Diego CA preaching for this general in the kingdom’s conference. That day while broken and hurting, God told me to begin preparing to leave everything I had worked so hard and labored to build not even knowing where I was going. We had a short conversation which settled my spirit man. I preached and began my journey to where I am now. The moral of this story is, it’s not the length of the conversation that helps you but the impact of the word that’s said that can shift you. RIP Morris Cerullo.”

Author and prophet James Goll of God Encounters Ministries posted similar words on Instagram about Cerullo’s loss: “The last of the Healing Evangelist[s], Morris Cerullo, graduated to be with the Lord earlier today at the age of 88. This is another demarcation in church history with the passing of the baton from one great pioneering generation to another generation postured to carry on and move forward. Thank You, Lord, for the life, ministry and legacy of this wonderful man of God.”

Cerullo’s ministry extended worldwide, and so did the expressions of condolence. Sao Paolo, Brazil, district assemblyman and Assemblies of God Cathedral of Revival Pastor Marco Feliciano shared his thoughts on Twitter, calling Cerullo “a prince of the gospel” and saying, “Your ministry touched me when I was a teenager. It was a passionate Pentecostal. Your legacy will be remembered for generations.”

Ifeanyi Adefarasin, co-pastor of the Nigerian megachurch House on the Rock, which has daughter churches across Africa and Europe, wrote, “A mighty general in the Lord’s army has gone to glory! Dr. Morris Cerullo, who spent his life and legacy, winning souls to Christ, has gone to be with our King. He not only taught the word but lived it, and taught so many, all over the world, to do the same.”

A mighty general in the Lord’s army has gone to glory! Dr. Morris Cerullo, who spent his life and legacy, winning souls to Christ, has gone to be with our King. He not only taught the word but lived it and taught so many, all over the world, to do this same. _ Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and all those who knew him, loved him and were blessed by him in so many, many ways. May the Lord comfort and console you as you bid farewell to this wonderful Father, Teacher, Pastor, Mentor and man of God. _ We are all truly grateful for the gift that he was to the body of Christ and to me personally. He lived a life that was not only fashioned after but sold out to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and was a worthy example to emulate. _ Like Paul said (in 2. Timothy. 4: 7 &8) – he has fought a good fight. He has finished his course. He has kept the faith. Now there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness, which the Lord Jesus, the Righteous Judge, shall give him at that glorious day. And not to him only, but to all who love His appearing. _ Rest on, dear Papa, till we meet to part no more. #RIP #MorrisCerullo

Founder and Presiding Bishop Mike Okwonko of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission in Nigeria expressed his grief this way on Twitter: “My father – Dr. Morris Cerullo! Like a good soldier of Christ, you fought a good fight, finished your course and kept the faith (2 Tim 4:7). Our consolation is that you lived an impactful life, raising men across the globe for Jesus. Adieu Papa Cerullo! We will miss you dearly.”

Joshua Mills, bestselling author and conference speaker, wrote, “Woke up this morning to the sad news that Dr. Morris Cerullo had crossed that great river in the sky. It’s a promotion for him, but certainly a loss for us.”

Woke up this morning to the sad news that Dr. Morris Cerullo had crossed that great river in the sky. It’s a promotion for him, but certainly a loss for us. . . . So thankful for the life of Dr. Morris Cerullo. A true pioneer and waymaker for the Miraculous. Our prayers are with Theresa, their family, the ministry and all of his spiritual children that grieve as the earth says ‘see you later’ to one of God’s generals of healing. . . . “Your circumstances are an opportunity for you to draw near to God and for God to reveal Himself to you through those circumstances in a greater way than He ever has before.” ― Morris Cerullo @morriscerullo . . . #morriscerullo #rip #restinpower
