God Can Change the Heart

There was once this proud king. He was the king of the most powerful nation on earth at that time. He had conquered many nations, but he didn’t realize that it was his Creator, his heavenly Father, who had given him the ability, power and the strength to become the most powerful man. He thought his accomplishments, his power, his great wealth and prestige were all due to his own wisdom and might. So God warned him in a dream, as any father would, that he needed to humble himself before God and acknowledge that He, the Most High God, is sovereign over all the nations of the earth, giving them to anyone He wishes. The king needed to change his heart.

The heart is spoken of in the Bible as the center of moral and spiritual life. The heart relates to our minds—how we think, our will and our desires, whether good or evil. In Jeremiah 17:9, God says, “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.”
