Denise Pass shares rich insights from her intense battle with COVID-19 on a recent episode of Make Life Matter on the Charisma Podcast Network.

Pass knows what it’s like to push through adversity—including a painful divorce, multiple bouts of pneumonia and an intense battle with COVID in October of 2020. In that dark season, God downloaded 12 mindset hacks to help her have the mind of Christ. Determined not to waste this season, she said: “We’ve got to learn how to encounter God right in the middle of hard.”

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 1: Choose Your Focus

“Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God” (Heb. 12:2).

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 2: Set Your Expectations Correctly

“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 3: Persevere and Never Give Up

“And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not give up” (Gal. 6:9).

“I can do all things because of Christ who strengthens me” (Phil. 4:13).

Remember, Jesus is there when life is interrupted.

Mindset Hack No. 4: Surrender Is Not Defeat

“Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

The pain in this life just might be Jesus’ rescue.

Mindset Hack No. 5: Being in the Center of God’s Will Is the Safest Place

“But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their refuge in the time of distress” (Ps. 37:39).

Jesus is there when fear fills us and lies to us.

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 6: Jesus Gets the Final Say

“His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who has called us by His own glory and excellence” (2 Pet. 1:3).

The blessings of God are more than the comforts of this world.

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 7: Gratitude Kills Complaints

“Do all things without murmuring and disputing, that you may be blameless and harmless, sons of God, without fault, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine as lights in the world. Hold forth the word of life that I may rejoice on the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain” (Phil. 2:14-16).

Jesus saves us—not meds, not man.

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 8: Choose Jesus

“There is no salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Worshipping Jesus is our weapon.

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 9: The Battle Is Not Ours

“For the Lord your God is He that goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you” (Deut. 20:4).

How we walk through trials matters.

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 10: Fighting For Others

“[God] comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Cor. 1:4).

Jesus makes our problems smaller.

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 11: The Art of Distraction

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths” (Prov. 3:5-6).

Mindset of Christ Hack No. 12: Love

“Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
