Inspirational Reminders to Help Your Family Gain a Passion for God

It’s something I pray for every day, and it’s highly effective.

Father, please give my family a passion for You, Your Word, Your wisdom, Your will, the people of Your world, for prayer and for holiness.

We can find inspirational reminders all around us. Let’s get started.

Hearts

  • I have a few decorative hearts in our home. Seeing them reminds me to ask God to give us a love for Him that consumes all other passions, attaining the highest treasure of life. “”You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind'” (Matt. 22:37b).

Bibles

While opening our Bibles each morning, let this activity remind us to pray that our loved ones are drawn into God’s Words as they awaken. Let’s ask God to speak to them specifically in their circumstances, things we may be unaware of that help them comprehend that He is there with them and for them. And let’s ask Him to give them a profound wisdom and understanding of the Bible that drives them to deeper study and greater influence—with a confidence to boldly and effectively communicate His truth in this present darkness. He loves this prayer and longs to fulfill such a request.

Grooming

Washing or brushing hair can remind us to ask God for wisdom, knowledge and understanding. And let’s go ahead and ask that this gift be as the wisdom of Solomon—as vast as the sands of the sea—as it’s so desperately needed to address the issues of our culture.

CalendarsPillows

Sometimes the rapid pace of life, the urgency to fulfill a daily agenda presses away the ability to recognize God’s voice seeking to orchestrate our priorities. So, while preparing our lists, let’s ask God that our will be surrendered to our Father’s delightful desire, setting an example for our children to follow. And as we place our heads upon our pillows or while making beds throughout our homes, we can ask God to speak to us day and night, especially as we sleep in silence. He will.

GlobesObserving People

God cares passionately for the people of His World, especially the lost, the hopeless, the hurting and the helpless. It’s important to teach our children that all are made in God’s image and that when we hurt someone, we hurt Jesus, and when we help someone, we help Jesus. And when we neglect the least of these, we neglect Jesus. So, seeing people, including our enemies, provides an opportunity to ask God to help us see others—their needs and potentials—through His eyes, and to help or encourage them as He leads us.

Set an Alarm for Prayer

It’s a powerful thing to cultivate a knowledge of God’s presence and an attitude of continual prayer in our lives and the lives of our children. We can stir this passion by setting a daily alarm reminding us to ask God to grant us a passion for prayer and praise. He will.

White

This color reminds us of the importance of holiness. Seeing it repeatedly throughout the day reminds us to pray that our families carry a passion for holiness.

All inspiration for prayer is powerful, and we have the authority and responsibility—so let’s not hold anything back, but use every resource our God has provided to change individuals, communities and nations. {eoa}
