Get Up and Fight Back When the Enemy Presses Down Hard

by | Mar 26, 2021 | Spiritual Warfare

It was a hard decision. I was faced with two options: stay and fight or take flight.

My marriage, the assignment on my life. God was asking me to pray, intercede and follow Him through this valley. The enemy certainly fought against the assignment on our lives.

It was a day I’ll never forget, like many days within this season of anguish. I was crying out to the Lord and asking the Lord why He would ask me to stay in my marriage and continue on the path He had put me on, when it was all in pieces.

He asked me: “Do you trust me?” Of course, I trusted the Lord, but I could also self-preserve and choose my own way. But I sincerely felt and knew the Lord was asking me to stay. I believe I had an emotional break down. It was like Jonah when God asked him to go to Nineveh. There I was in the middle of my kitchen floor, laying on my back kicking and screaming as I yelled at God. Yes! I was yelling and screaming like a 3-year-old toddler.

The Lord spoke to me during this exchange, and I yelled at Him. I told him what I needed Him to do. I told Him I couldn’t walk this path unless He stayed close to me. I told Him, “I’m afraid.”

I needed Him to speak directly in my ear. I needed clear and detailed confirmation. I laid there on my kitchen floor and cried until I felt better, and He spoke to me. He promised he would be with me, and He would indeed turn my situation into something good. He would rebuild my life from the rubble around me.

Are you in such a season? Can I encourage you to put it all on the table? Bet everything you have with God. He will not leave you.

Just as He’s walked with me and my family, helping us rebuild the ruined places of our lives, He will be with you too.
