Become a Wisdom Seeker! Book of Proverbs: Part 1

Would you like to increase wisdom in your life? There will always be situations where you will need to ask God for more wisdom. You will need the wisdom of God in every area of your life! When choosing a spouse or friends, a change in careers, every confrontation, rebuke or correction you experience, even driving to Walmart, you will need wisdom! This is the cornerstone of any minister, teacher and Christian. The wisdom of God covers so much more in our lives than we realize.

You can increase your wisdom just by immersing yourself in the book of Proverbs. It is full of golden nuggets from God for daily life. It is a poetic book: it teaches us how to love, make decisions and how to fight the enemy. The wisdom of God applies to anything!

When you walk with the wisdom of God, you don’t make impulsive decisions because you are seeking and inquiring after Him first. A lot of impulsive decisions are rooted in behavior patterns or addiction, causing hasty decisions that waste time, energy and emotions. When you seek the Holy Spirit’s wisdom in every decision, you will filter everything with discretion. “Should I say this? Should I behave like this? Should I buy this?” These questions are using discretion.

Wisdom tells you when to say “yes” and when to say “no.” Waiting on God’s answer will grant you prudency, counsel and alignment with His will. Saying “yes” to everything and being open to every idea is simple-mindedness; for example, the belief that there are many ways to get to heaven. This opens the door to the demonic! But the wisdom of God creates and gives you a standard. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isa. 55:8-9, NIV). {eoa}
