Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. —John 3:5-8, KJV

Men and women in the kingdom of God who do not have a healthy revelation of the weakness of their own flesh are dangerous if God anoints them for leadership and ministry. They can wreak havoc in the kingdom of God through spiritual pride. Self-righteousness, spiritual abuse, and misuse of spiritual authority can all stem from this problem. A lot of crazy things happen outside the context of this twofold revelation. We are reckless with pride if we do not know that we have weak flesh. But when we see our weakness, we begin to despair if we do not know that we have a willing spirit. God wants neither reckless pride nor despairing condemnation. Rather, He wants us secure in love, secure that He enjoys us in love, and secure that our love, though weak, is still seen as genuine by God.

{ PRAYER STARTER }

Lord, I also want to see myself as You see me. Show me the weakness of my flesh, and then reveal Your transforming love to me. Cause me to be secure in Your love.

There is nothing more abusive than a leader anointed
in ministry who does not have a humble
revelation of the weakness of his flesh.
