God’s Word is essential, like eating and breathing, and when you put the Word into your heart and speak it, it will change your life. Luke 4:4 tells us “people do not live by bread alone.” In this biblical context, Jesus used the Word to battle the devil—and you can too.
The Word is the most practical thing in your life because wherever you are and whatever situation you’re in, if you rely on God’s promises your prayers will be answered. God’s Word works in every situation: finance, wisdom and peace. You can use Scriptures to battle life’s issues. You don’t need to wake during the night and worry, you can use that time to speak God’s promises then rest easy.
Greg Mohr wrote “Scriptures to Live By,” a compilation of scripture that you can use as an arsenal to arm yourself to face life’s difficulties. Years ago, in response to a challenging season, Greg and his wife wrote down 70 scriptures on healing, the authority of scripture and the integrity of God’s word. They spoke those verses, saying, “It’s written!” After two months, they saw results in the power of the Word of God.
Mohr warns against becoming legalistic with your faith and removing God from the picture. That would mean you’re leaning on your own understanding instead of putting your trust in the Prince rather than the principle. It’s important to remember that God uses different methods for people to receive answers to prayer. Sometimes being prayed over brings results, sometimes speaking scripture over a situation brings the blessing.
The wisdom of God is available through His Word to everyone. The Bible says God will give you the desire for His Word and will make His Word as valuable as gold and silver. Take advantage of this precious gift. Get into the Word and bless yourself and others.
