Why We Need Revival in the Church Today

Hebrews 12:29 declares that “our God is a consuming fire.”

When we think of the subject of revival, we must always understand that God’s holy fire is always present in true visitation. This fire is not just to excite us, but the primary purpose is to bring about a realm of holiness that leads to necessary repentance.

The church needs revival because it oftentimes doesn’t even realize it’s asleep. As a result, it becomes comfortable and even satisfied with going through the motions of religious exercise while sprinkling a little bit of the gospel in occasionally. The result according to 2 Timothy 3:5 is, “having a form of godliness, but denying its power.”

Tragically, our nation is free-falling into darkness as I write this. Perversion and the murder of the unborn is celebrated, and the church oftentimes has only a minimal impact. John Wesley once said, “What one generation tolerates, the next of embraces.” I believe America has taken it a step further, and we now celebrate and promote sin as if it is a wonderful thing.

Therefore, the only hope is revival in the church, which alone can lead to awakening in the nation. I want to say here that as I am traveling and preaching around America again, I am experiencing a hunger for revival like I have not seen in over 20 years. The Lord is stirring hearts, and men and women, young and old, are beginning to cry out to the Lord to show forth His glory in this hour!

The season is at hand for the Lord to visit His people in power once again. Be sure and listen to this week’s Maintain the Flame podcast on Charisma Podcast Network, where I share about the fact that the church is in desperate need of revival. Be prepared to be challenged deeply. {eoa}
