What Is Your Identity as a Prophet?

There is a difference between knowing who you are as God’s son or daughter and knowing your identity as a prophet.

The prophet’s identity is to help you understand your job as a prophet. Your revelation of being God’s son or daughter is to help you live from a place of acceptance in Christ.

Many of those who claim to operate in the prophetic attempt to get their acceptance from whether their prophetic words are accurate and how many people are impacted by those words. Our acceptance shouldn’t come from what we do as prophets but rather who we are as God’s sons and daughters.

Once we accept that God loves us as His sons and daughters despite what we do or don’t do, then we are ready to find out who we are as prophets. You can tell when people don’t know their identity as God’s son or daughter because they always must tell you they are a prophet. When you are settled with who God says you are, you don’t need to do that anymore.

At this point, the office of prophet is no longer about what people need to see you being but rather about honoring the Lord and accomplishing His purpose for your life. When you live from this place, you will want to get clear on what kind of prophets resonate with you the most because it helps you clarify your kingdom assignment.

I love that being clear in my prophet’s identity gives me fire to pursue my kingdom assignment. I find a lot more fulfillment in living from a revelation that I am a prophet of fire to CEOs. When I minister to them, I know that I am on track with what God has called me to do. When I stand before His throne one day and He asks me if I fulfilled my assignment on earth, I will be able to say, “To the best of my knowledge, yes I did.”

This gets me excited. I’d encourage you to listen to my most recent Emerging Prophets podcast to get a greater sense of how to develop a prophet’s identity statement for yourself. This statement will help breathe life into your destiny and purpose as a prophet. {eoa}
