Apostolic Leader: Exercise Discernment Before Jumping on End-Times Bandwagon

In December, Kentucky pastor Dana Coverstone received what he says to be a revelation from God concerning current events and their potential apocalyptic impact with the warning, “Brace yourself.” He posted a YouTube video detailing the dreams that garnered over 1 million views in 24 hours.

Apostolic leader Mike Brewer of Reach International Ministries offers his viewpoint in this episode of Apostolic Perspectives on the Charisma Podcast Network.

Brewer summarizes the bulk of Coverstone’s prediction by saying, “We can expect major chaos across the United States. He saw foreign troops on the land. He expects the protesting to get worse, more buildings to burn and he said that we could only expect to see this lead to civil war in our nation.”

Brewer suggests three key items to look out for when discerning prophecies:

— Determine if the one doing the prophesying has the desire to “seek the heart of God for what heaven is saying.”

—Make sure the prophecy itself “always carries with it His heart and His nature and His wheel.”

—Discern if the revelation “removes any of our responsibility to pray against this revelation or pray for the peace of heaven to manifest His kingdom.”

Mike Brewer also advises listeners of the standards we must keep in mind when listening to high-level claims made about prophecy, including “our level of authority. All of us are given a realm or a level or a sphere of authority in which we operate.”
