God is doing a new thing: Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV):
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
God is positioning Christians all over the world into careers, roles and spaces of authority that the church has never seen before. There are going to be harvests and purposes in these spaces that will cause the church at large to grow and advance because of individuals being willing to do things that have not been done before.
We can see this in the rise of technologies. There are inventions that no other generation has ever even dreamed of or have had access to that you and I get to dream with God over their uses. I think of Martin Luther wanting to translate the Bible into modern language and at the same time he had the printing press to mass distribute something that couldn’t have been done in any other generation, thus leading to the great Reformation.
Some of what will bring in the great harvest of Jesus will come because you are following God into a new position that previous generations of Christians have never seen.
Think about the virtual harvest where people will get saved online and in spaces that we don’t even have to set foot in. Or think about the climate anxiety that the younger generation is facing. Many Christians don’t believe in it or believe it is a political construct and yet God has technologies and solutions that can be brought through scientists, climate entrepreneurs and Christians who will be positioned to not just protest but also to bring sustainable change.
Many Christians are going to be invited to the table of world forums over issues to be voices and carry authority that previous Christians didn’t consider our kingdom responsibility. God is raising up unlikely people with wisdom and solutions.
There has been a refining happening for many Christians who are called to these new spaces and positions. God has been building a deeply rooted character and a sense of holiness so that as you go to these spaces, you won’t be polluted but you will bring kingdom atmosphere and kingdom perspective.
Many Christians have abdicated whole industries not feeling like it is our responsibility and yet we are seeing some of the greatest kingdom works in these exact places. We’re seeing TV shows like “The Chosen” becoming the most watched TV show in the world. We’re seeing people like Jordan Peterson fighting for freedom of speech against a country bringing to light the evils of socialism. We are going to see more and more people raised up for such a time as this. Even though things may feel dire, that is when God raises up champions and people to bring solutions.
In Joshua 1:9, God tells Joshua not to be afraid of going into the promised land and taking it back. I believe God is saying to you, do not be afraid! Don’t be afraid that you never had a full prototype because He is going with you and in front of you and behind you.
We need you in these new spaces. We need the scientists, the entertainers, the educators, the NGO leaders, the politicians, the civil rights leaders … there is a new space for you that God has prepared you for and is preparing for you!
