1980 Kenneth Hagin Sr Prophetic Word: Ramp It Up

The nations of the world are ripe for revival. God wants to move in powerful ways, but we have a part to play.

I believe the coming move of God will be birthed through an increase of travail and intercession by the bride of Christ. In 1980, Kenneth E. Hagin gave a prophecy about this:

“The way that you will give birth unto the move of God … is to bring it about through travail and intercessory prayer. The Spirit of God is enlisting men and women today to volunteer to be one of those who will sacrifice even the legitimate pleasures of life and come aside from fellowship with others that they enjoy so much and spend time on their face in intercession. …

“The darkness … will be dispelled and driven back for the light of God will shine through, and the rivers of the Spirit will flow, and the blessings of God will come. … So the flood waters of His blessing and His goodness and His Spirit shall sweep forth like a mighty flood. … Not to bring death and destruction, but to bring life and peace and health and healing. …

“So, labor on—pray on in persistence and in faith. … It will be so, and it can be so, and it shall be so that the church shall yet see her finest hour in this time and in this day!”

This word has not yet come to pass, but I believe it is still valid today if we will ramp up our intercession and devote ourselves to praying for the outpouring of God’s Spirit. In 1 Timothy 1:18, Paul tells Timothy to remember the prophetic words he had received, which would enable him to wage a good warfare in the Spirit. The same is true for us.

Reminding ourselves of prophetic words will keep us fresh and focused in prayer.

We need that because intercession is often a work of perseverance. In Luke 18:1-18, Jesus told His disciples the parable of the persistent widow to teach them that we “always ought to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1b, NKJV). Discouragement is the beginning of the loss of vision. As Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.” We must not allow our hearts to slip into hope deferred. Meditating on the prophecies will stir our faith and help us avoid the discouragement that wants to sideline us.

In Habakkuk 2:3 (NIV), God tells us to persistently wait in faith for the fulfillment of His promises: “For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” God is faithful, and we can trust His promises.

Putting our full confidence in His word, let’s ramp up our prayer. If we do not give up, we will see the fruit of our labor in intercession.
