There came a point when the modest simplicity that marked the Jesus People movement was no longer visible. Ministries began charging for concerts and young evangelistic singer-songwriters no longer accepted invitations to minister without financial benefit. For Danny Lehmann, this was more than a small shift. “God tends to withdraw his hand when we leverage the gospel for our own ends,” he says.
