Who Is the Holy Spirit?

“Who is the Holy Spirit?” That’s a loaded question in the church today. In one of his latest teachings, Pastor Mike Signorelli of V1 Church helps us understand just who is the Holy Spirit and His importance.

The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts. Before you receive salvation you don’t really know the weight of your decisions. Once you receive salvation, Signorelli explains, you begin to realize that you were dead to Christ and alive to sin. The Holy Spirit as explained in John 16:8-11 opens your eyes to the truth, to the difference between sin and righteousness.

The Holy Spirit empowers. Acts 2 is a beautiful testimony of what is possible when the Holy Spirit empowers and emboldens believers. Pastor Mike uses the modern-day example of a computer with WIFI versus one without, illustrating how the Holy Spirit does this.

A computer without WIFI is an entirely different experience than one with WIFI. A computer has base-level programs for you to use. That’s all. But once you add WIFI, a completely different experience opens up. As Christians, we have base-level programs too: read our Bible, pray and go to church. The Holy Spirit is what takes us beyond that. The Holy Spirit recalls verses, gives us wisdom and knowledge, and He gives us the boldness to witness (Acts 1:8).

Lastly, Signorelli focuses on how the Holy Spirit replenishes us. We will get depleted and it is vital that we fill up at the right source, which, Ephesians 5:18 tells us, is to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
