WATCH: How You Can Find Freedom From Narcissism

If you’ve been in church long enough, you’ve probably heard someone talk about or mention a Jezebel spirit. But what exactly does that mean?

Pastor Mike Signorelli dives into Scripture to give us a deeper look into the Jezebel spirit, or what the world calls narcissism. First, he explains that the Jezebel spirit is the root of overt narcissism. Overt narcissism can manifest itself as a person who self-proclaims, as someone who wants to teach but not be taught, who wants to be in authority but not under authority.

All of these are traits we generally associate with narcissism. Then Signorelli goes even further and talks about the Ahab spirit, which presents itself as covert narcissism. The covert narcissist retreats to fantasies instead of actually putting in the work, avoids relationships that have no benefit to him, holds grudges for perceived slights and demands that you pay attention to him.

Pastor Mike explains that these two spirits work in tandem: You cannot have Jezebel without Ahab and vice versa. He also clarifies that these spirits can be present in anyone, regardless of gender.
