Author and speaker Sadie Robertson spoke at the Love Is Red 2020 youth conference, held March 5-7 in Ohio. She says at 17 years old, she realized she wanted to be a Christian speaker, influencing people with her words about God. Robertson said God spoke through Pastor Alex Seeley at The Belonging Co church about her calling.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing—Robertson says that when she was on Dancing With the Stars, she struggled with anxiety and an eating disorder, and it wasn’t fulfilling.

“The minute I said, ‘Yeah, this is great, but there’s got to be something more,’ and found Jesus and started talking about Him, I’ve never been more confident in my life. I’ve never had more joy, never had more peace, never felt more loved,” Robertson says.

Following God’s path toward fulfilling your calling won’t always be an easy road, Robertson says. The first times she tried speaking in front of an audience, the organizers asked for their money back because she got too nervous.
