How to Praise God When Circumstances Are Unfair

Sam Groeschel, son of Life.Church’s Pastor Craig Groeschel, discussed how to praise God in the midst of quarantine and more severe circumstances that seem unfair. It’s ultimately a matter of focusing our eyes on God’s unchanging character and promises.

“Sometimes I don’t feel like worshipping God,” Groeschel says. “Sometimes I don’t feel like lifting my hands, and sometimes growing up, I didn’t feel like going to church—because of unfair circumstances that were going on, because of things I might have even been mad at God for. Some things just seemed unfair. So, why would Paul and Silas worship in jail? Why should you worship when things seem so unfair?

“Because we don’t worship based off our circumstances. We worship because of who our God is. … When you’re in quarantine, are you going to choose to whine and worry? When you choose to respond in worship, it may not always change your circumstance, but God will always change your perspective.”
