Receiving a diagnosis of cancer or some other death-dealing disease can be devastating. It can strike terror in your heart and bring fear of what may be coming your way.
How well I remember the day my wife, Lindsay, received a diagnosis of thyroid cancer and how it made us feel at the time. But I’m here to tell you that God is faithful and today, Lindsay is completely cancer-free! Hallelujah!
Lindsay and I put some very important steps into practice to position ourselves for healing during her treatment for and recovery from cancer. I believe these Bible-based principles will help you or a loved one if you have found yourself facing a cancer diagnosis or some other chronic life-limiting or terminal diagnosis.
First, you must know that Jesus has already paid the price for your healing.
One of the things Jesus obtained for us when He went to the cross was our healing—our ability to have wholeness in every area of our lives—spirit, soul and body. Isaiah 53:4-5 (AMP) says, “He has borne our griefs, and He has carried our sorrows and pains; Yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken, struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him], But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; the punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, and by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.” Notice, the Scripture says you “are healed.” It doesn’t say possibly or sometime down the road. No! You are healed, today, by your faith in Jesus Christ.
Then, learn to dig into the Word of God.
Get into the Bible like you have never done so before—read it, think about it and pray it. Begin, by faith, to believe what God says more than what the diagnosis says.
Begin to speak God’s Word out of your mouth.
When you begin doing the second step, exercise your faith by saying out loud God’s promises for you as His child concerning healing. Even if you are still dealing with the symptoms or the pain, speak His Word over yourself, and do it over and over again until you begin to see it come to pass in you.
Study and learn from other trusted ministers.
There is so much good material from other ministers and preachers on the subject of healing. Find some who speak into your life and let their teaching on these same biblical principles give you a firm foundation to stand on. Some of them have been where you are, and they speak from experience about God’s goodness and faithfulness in this area.

If you are in a fight for your life or your loved one’s life, you really need to listen to this podcast. Write down all seven biblical principles. In fact, the last three may be some things you may not be expecting to hear and one critically important point that cannot be overlooked in your healing process. And, even if you don’t need a healing miracle right at this moment, you or a loved one may need one in the future. Build up your faith for that miracle today.
