Why Christ Is Enough for You

I hear so many believers talk about different revelations and sermons that really don’t have anything to do with Jesus, and, truth be told, are more focused on us! It makes me so sad to hear all of these peripheral issues being discussed, in place of Jesus. I believe that Jesus is enough for us to feast on alone. His character and His work are the truth and revelation that we need to set us free. Jesus declares, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” (John 8:32), but somehow the person of Jesus and His work has become a lower revelation in the eyes of some. But in fact, Jesus is all there is to know, and when we exalt Christ alone, we will see the power of God!

“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you remain in My word, then you are truly My disciples. You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” (John 8:31-32).

Maybe I am simple, but I stand with the apostle Paul when I say, “I determined not to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Cor. 2:2). The character and work of Jesus are enough to save, heal and deliver.

“Brothers, when I came to you, I did not come with superiority of speech or wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. My speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1 Cor. 2:1-5).


I want to feast on His character and His work only; this is the truth that makes us free! It’s not the truth of the law that makes us free, nor the truth of ourselves. The knowledge of good and evil and the knowledge of ourselves only lead to bondage. When we expound upon Jesus, we experience the power of God that saves. This is the revelation that protects, prospers, heals and delivers us on a daily basis.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. As it is written, “The just shall live by faith” (Rom. 1:16-17).

By simply living in this world, we are predisposed to become introspective, prideful and in need of a constant reminder to look to Jesus as our righteousness. Any revelation that does not lead you to Christ is dangerous in my opinion. Our only hope in this world is to fix our eyes on the one who gave it all and continuously supplies our every need based on our new identity in Him. We are conformed into His image by beholding Him, not by beholding ourselves or the knowledge of good and evil—our glorious part is to simply worship the King through gazing upon all that He is and has done!

If the ministry that brought death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, the glory which was to fade away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation is glorious, the ministry of righteousness much more exceeds it in glory. Even that which was made glorious had no glory in comparison to the glory that excels.For if that which fades was glorious, that which remains is much more glorious.

Seeing then that we have such hope, we speak with great boldness, not as Moses, who put a veil over his face, so that the children of Israel could not look intently at the end of what was fading away. Instead, their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the old covenant, the veil which was done away with in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, the veil is in their hearts. Nevertheless when anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit. And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, seeing the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, as in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Lord (2 Cor. 3:7-18).

The law is the ministry that brings death; therefore, I would not recommend meditating on it—instead, our portion is to meditate on the one who brings life. We meditate on the one who has fulfilled the law on our behalf and has now made us dead to the law and alive to God!


Yet we know that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ. Even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, rather than by the works of the law. For by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

If, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found to be sinners, is Christ therefore the minister of sin? God forbid! For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

For through the law I am dead to the law, that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God. For if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ died in vain (Gal. 2:16-21).

I don’t know about you, but I need a daily reminder to look to my beloved and receive in order to depend on His strength and receive all that He has for me. This is why it is so important to bring Jesus out of the Scriptures. From Genesis to Revelation, we should be bringing Jesus out of the Scriptures. There is no other name under heaven by which men are saved (see Acts 4:12). He is worthy of all our focus!

He is worthy of all our worship. He is worthy of the affections of our hearts. He is worthy of our preaching and teaching. Let all we do reveal more of Jesus alone.

He is worthy of it all!
