After several years as a Christian broadcaster and licensed health professional, Fred Antonelli never expected to wind up back at Elim Bible Institute and College, where he was a student in the 1970s.

But, with the way secular institutions are teaching young people a much more liberal view of the world these days, Antonelli says he’s proud to return to the small, historic Pentecostal school in upstate New York as president—and with a keen sense of duty to make sure students are fed by the Word of God and led by the Holy Spirit.

“We as a charismatic Bible College have never veered from who we are,” Antonelli told Dr. Steve Greene on a recent episode of Greenelines on the Charisma Podcast Network. “We are Spirit-filled. We believe in prophecy, speaking in tongues, healing, moving in the Spirit of God and worshipping in the Spirit.

“So, the spiritual formation is unbelievably powerful, and also the teaching of the biblical, spiritual perspective,” Antonelli says. “That’s what you get here at Elim. If you come for a theological degree or a business degree or whatever, you are going to get the emphasis of a Spirit-filled, Holy Ghost-empowered, revival-oriented Bible College.”

Students often receive spiritual care—such as teachers stopping instruction in a classroom simply to pray for someone in need.

“We have just come out of a week of prayer,” Antonelli said. “I’m telling you, the Spirit of God was moving. It was healing. People were filled with the Holy Spirit. There were addictions broken. There were mental disorders that were put to flight. That goes on in the classroom. We don’t compromise. Not only do we pray, which is immensely important, but we do it from a Pentecostal perspective. It’s wonderful, evangelical, but it’s charismatic. We will never veer from that kind of moving in the Spirit with this Bible college.”
