What God Has Prepared

1 Corinthians 2:6-3:4 One of my most favorite times of the year is Christmas. The preparations for this time give me great excitement. I usually begin early during the spring sales to buy winter clothes as gifts for our family that includes three sons and their wives, our grandchildren, a Russian son and Chinese daughter, and now another daughter named Misha. I diligently search for gifts they will enjoy, and I can’t wait until Christmas day when they open their gifts. Sometimes we give trips to the children, and they love this.

Think of the joy our heavenly Father had as He prepared things for us from the foundation of the earth. He has prepared special gifts we can use throughout our lives that will help us as we share His love and kingdom with others. He also has prepared trips for us to take, people to see and many works to do. Before we were born, God had a specific plan for our lives that unveils to us as we hear and obey His voice. It would boggle our minds to see what God has in His mind and heart for each of us. Paul expresses this so well in this scripture: “But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God'” (1 Cor. 2:9-10).

I would be a terrible mother if on Christmas day I told all my family, “I have wrapped some very special gifts for each one of you, but I will not tell you where to find them.” God wants us to know all about all the things He has prepared for us, and He has given His Holy Spirit to reveal these things to us.

When I was a little girl, my parents never wrapped our presents. Instead, on Christmas Eve they laid all of our gifts under the tree. Often I would with great expectation slip out of my bed and crack the living room door open so I could get a sneak peak of what gifts were awaiting me.

Today God wants you to take a sneak peak at all the things He has lovingly prepared for you. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you some of the works God has in mind for you to do, some the gifts He wants you to use and some of the places He wants you to go. If you will be quiet and still and wait upon the Lord after you have asked this question, you will be amazed at what the Holy Spirit will tell you. He may not reveal everything to you now, but He will be careful to reveal just what you need to know today.

Father, thank You so much for all the things You have prepared for me. Thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit who can reveal these things to me. I would love to take a sneak peak today to see some of these things.
