People need help. So many people struggle through life handicapped by various issues. These problems cause much pain and heartache. God said in His Word we should focus on other’s needs (Phil. 2:3-4). However, it is difficult to be available to other people when we are crippled by personal pain.
I believe the Lord equipped and trained me to alleviate the pain and suffering of other people. Everyone was created for a designated purpose. This purpose will not only help you but will also be for the benefit of others. God does not give us a vision and a plan only for ourselves. Helping and serving others is a kingdom mandate. I wish I could say this show’s focus is one primary issue. But honestly, there are so many things that plague us that each show will be committed to something different. I believe we are not to give an excessive amount of attention to problems, but look for solutions. I do not believe in offering any more attention to a problem than it deserves. However, I also think ignoring a problem allows it to fester like cancer.
I want this show to bring hope and healing. Jesus said He came to give us life and life more abundantly (John 10:10). I believe it is God’s will that everyone lives in that abundant life. A few years ago, I wrote a book called Redeeming Your Past and Finding your Promised Land. The essence of that book is getting over all your “stuff” to get into what God has called you to do. Your promised land is that place where you are living the abundant life, operating fully in your gifting and purpose. When a person is free to act in their gifting and purpose, they find the abundant life that Christ promised us. That is the mission of Self Talk.
