When Irish worship leader Robin Mark learned that his home church in Northern Ireland was scheduled to undergo a major renovation, he was prompted to look for a different venue where he could record his new CD. As a result, Year of Grace became the singer’s first live project recorded in the U.S., at North Syracuse Baptist Church.

“I knew intuitively that the sound and passion of the New York concert crowd, enhanced and charged by the wonderful acoustics of the beautiful sanctuary, would have all the ingredients for a great recording,” he said.

As the title implies, the album is a tribute to God’s unmerited love and captures the believer’s yearning to draw near to Him. A mixture of Celtic rock and folk style worship, the project offers a unique feel reminiscent of Mark’s Revival in Belfast album.

Opener “Holy Is Our God” is a simple but fast, rocking cut loaded with declarations and attributions to the Father. “There Is None Like You,” “Glory to Your Name” and “Highly Exalted” speak of who God is, while “I Am Persuaded” and “Year of Grace” affirm who the believer is in Christ.

Mark says “Some Trust in Chariots” was birthed out of personal testimonies involving U.S. soldiers. “I sometimes get e-mails from U.S. soldiers, and they tell me stories about work on the front lines. They said they don’t trust in chariots, guns or horses. They said that their trust is ultimately in God. I wrote this song for them,” Mark told The Buzz.

Mark will spend the summer and part of the fall touring 30 cities in the U.S. before he heads back to his native home of Belfast, Ireland. Concertgoers and listeners alike can look forward to worshiping the Lord in Celtic style.
