Newworldson has had a season of success since their debut national release, Salvation Station, two years ago. The Canadian band has garnered numerous award nominations, including two Juno Awards for Gospel Album of the Year, and the band won two Roots Album of the Year awards for Best New Artist and Group of the Year. Their video Working Man claimed the No. 1 spot on the Gospel Music Channel. It’s been a wild ride, and now the band is back offering ramped up, vamped up music and lyrics on their self-titled album.

“We went from playing local churches and bars to arenas and other major venues within months,” says Newworldson frontman Joel Parisien. “All those new experiences prompted us to grow as a band rather quickly, and we took that growth into the studio on our latest project.”

The band was also influenced and inspired by their international travels. “Salvation Station was about Newworldson exploring the roots of gospel and Americana music,” Parisien explains. “The new album incorporates more of a world perspective, inspired by our visits to international markets where people of all cultures and backgrounds received our music openly.”

Newworldson covers a plethora of musical styles including gospel, ’50s (imagine juke boxes and poodle skirts), big band and rock ‘n’ roll. Their unique sound and modern application might catch listeners off guard so much that they could overlook the thought-provoking, spiritual lyrics on the first go-round. But as fans play the CD again and again (and they will), the God-centered tracks will continually uplift and encourage them. Newworldson is a surprise musical treat. They are here to stay and might just be on their way to taking over the world—musically.
