Dr. James Dobson condemned the “socialist agenda” he says fueled the U.S. government’s $3 trillion aid package this week.

The House prepared to vote on the measure Friday, May 15, as the Senate vowed to reject it.

House Democrats first unveiled the pandemic relief measure, called the HEROES Act, on Tuesday, May 12, which offered aid to struggling states and more direct payments to Americans. Republicans were quick to dismiss the measure as an overreaction to the COVID-19 crisis, reports The New York Times.

Dr. Dobson is inclined to agree with Republicans that the aid is largely uncalled for. He issued the following statement Friday:

“Led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrats are now proposing an outrageous $3 trillion federal aid package that is laced with special interest spending that has nothing to do with our current health and economic calamity. Republicans (who were excluded from the latest effort) have described the massive spending bill as a ‘liberal wishlist’ that, among other things, changes election laws and bails out states that were mismanaging funds well before the coronavirus crisis. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell called Pelosi’s dream bill a ‘far-left extreme makeover.’

“Make no mistake, $3 trillion is a breathtaking amount of money. It is appalling the Democrats are willing to mortgage the future of our children and grandchildren, all to ram through a socialist agenda that runs counter to the wishes of most Americans, not to mention the Constitution of the United States!

“Our politicians serve the people of this great nation and the governing laws that support it. If they can’t get with the program, it’s time for them to be reminded of whom they serve.”
