Compromised Christianity or True Discipleship?

Extreme drug abuse landed Skylar Linderman in a hospital bed once more. His life was spinning out of control. He had abscesses in both arms from mainlining narcotics day after day. Worse than that, Skylar found himself in a place of hopelessness and despair with depression, addiction and anxiety ruling his life. He and his family had tried everything they could think of to get him free. Skylar had been to doctors and counselors, programs and meetings and still found himself bound by addiction to both illegal and prescription drugs. He was suicidal and almost done with this life.

Skylar grew up in a great home with a family that loved him. He was in church regularly and even made a commitment to Christ and to preach God’s Word at a young age. He found out soon that these were not popular decisions and increasingly surrendered his beliefs for acceptance from his friends. He began dabbling in pornography, alcohol and drugs, and what started out as a pastime quickly became a way of life. For years he attempted to blend Christianity with a party life with little success. At 24 years old and newly married, tragedy struck. Skylar’s young wife was killed in a freak car accident on her way to church. From there, Skylar went into an absolute nosedive.

You can hear the rest of Skylar’s compelling story and learn how he discovered freedom from his addiction on this episode of Conquer Addiction on the Charisma Podcast Network. You can find more resources at omainc.org. {eoa}
