How Your Suffering and Passionate Worship Positions You to Be a Miriam Prophet

I felt so distant from God that morning.

I visited a new church with my friend that Sunday. I was hoping for a touch from Jesus but wasn’t sure what to expect.

The service started with worship, and as I sang, I felt His gentle presence come into the room. My eyes closed and tears started dripping down my face as I was enveloped in His love. Jesus was here!

He tapped me gently on the shoulder and I opened my eyes to catch a glimpse of the pastor. He looked at the worship leader and gave him an almost imperceptible nod. Then the pastor lifted his hands to continue to worship.

I looked around me. I wasn’t the only one in tears. The presence of the Lord grew stronger and rolled like waves through the entire sanctuary.

When the pastor came up to the pulpit to ask for testimonies, I realized we didn’t hear a message. We spent the entire meeting in worship.

Person after person walked up to the mic to share how they experienced healing. For others, prayers were answered. Some shared powerful breakthroughs and others had their faith and hope restored.

I don’t remember the songs they played, who was on stage, or even how long the service was. But miracles happened at that meeting. Jesus came to touch and heal His people!

I didn’t understand what had happened then, but I do now.

A Miriam prophet did their job.

What Is a Miriam Type Prophet?

“Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. And Miriam answered them: ‘Sing to the Lord, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!’” (Exod. 15:20-21, NKJV).

Every prophet loves to worship and can lead others into His presence.

But not every prophet is a Miriam.

A Miriam prophet creates the river that others come to drink from and have an experience with Jesus. She creates an atmosphere with worship that allows the Holy Spirit to move and have His way.

People don’t just experience worship when a Miriam prophet worships. They become worshippers.

God has given you a huge responsibility, Miriam prophet, to usher His people into His presence. You’re also more than that – you’re a leader.

You’ve paid a high price for your assignment. But God graced you with the ability to shift atmospheres so yokes are broken and people are transformed. Does the ground shake when you worship, prophet? You may be a Miriam!

3 Signs You Are a Miriam Prophet

1. You’re a Problem Solver

Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?” (Exod. 2:7, NKJV)

In Scripture, Miriam had the idea and the guts to approach Pharaoh’s daughter about taking care of Moses. She was there to watch over Moses and keep him safe.

You’re the same, Miriam prophet. You work well under pressure and aren’t afraid of a challenge to get a job done!

God positions you to have wisdom in the moment to protect His new works.

2. You’re a Worshipper

The anointing flows most when you pick up your timbrel and step out in front.

You create worshippers as you lead worship. You’re anointed to bring a new song to His people. You don’t just write worship songs, you prophesy and express His heart in song.

Worship isn’t something you do. It’s who you are.

3. You’ve Suffered to Know His Joy

People see the glory you bring, but it cost you everything to walk in that anointing.

You’ve endured a lifetime of suffering. Worship became your lifeline to the secret place with Jesus. You found His joy in devastating circumstances. People follow you because your praise isn’t cheap.

Your power comes from your pain.

God made you someone that won’t ever give up. Because you’re familiar with pain, you know firsthand the joy, hope, and strength available through Jesus. Worship is not just your life, it’s your weapon against the enemy and your gift to give to His people. Don’t be afraid to come out from hiding to step out front and lead God’s people. Grab your timbrel, Miriam prophet. The church needs you!
