How the Enemy Manifests in Racial Tensions—And What You Can Do to Help

Jamaal Bernard, senior pastor of the Long Island campus of the Christian Cultural Center in New York, joins host Rosalinda Rivera on this episode of the Faith Fuel Podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network to bring to light concerns and remedies to racial issues in our world today.

Bernard starts off the conversation by identifying the brokenness of our world, and says there are five main things that come out of a broken or wounded individual: ignorance, selfishness, moral weakness, uncontrolled passion and blindness. By recognizing these, we can better understand how the work of the enemy manifests in our world and specifically in our journey to racial reconciliation. His prayer is that the Lord would reveal to us that He is still in control and would show us what roles we must play in bringing about change.

One way to bring about change is to get involved. However, if you’re struggling to understand or get behind the trending Black Lives Matter movement, Bernard says he can relate. He stands with the truth that “Black lives matter” but cannot support the organization. He says, “As a Christian, I can’t fully follow the Black Lives Matter vision and mission, but I can team up with them to help deal with the social injustice that’s going on in the community.”

And if we fail to recognize underlying racial biases or tensions, host Rosalinda Rivera urges us to ask ourselves, “Why do I feel uncomfortable when I’m around a Black brother, a Hispanic person, an Asian person, a white person, because you know, race goes all the way. … Ask the Lord to help you learn and to be open.”
