Joel Augé | Integrity Music

Canadian singer-songwriter Joel Augé (pronounced “Ojhay”) is already known in Christian and mainstream circles. He’s recorded with bands Capstone, Six Days and Hewett, and his music’s been featured on television, including on The Hallmark Channel and ABC. He also serves as a worship leader for The Meeting House churches. For this sophomore album, Augé had a specific mission in mind.

“I wanted to approach the record with a whole new palette of sounds,” he says. “My goal was to make something original, inspiring, and with no boundaries—as a reflection of the Savior I serve.”

Augé has fully achieved his goals. The melodies are certainly not what many might expect when it comes to worship music. His musical style is refreshing yet still carries with it inspiring, worshipful lyrics. Augé’s voice will also make this album stand out from others. For the most part, his smooth tenor voice carries the melodies, such as on the meaningful ballad “Promises.” On “OK,” he sings in his higher register, which he does well.

Listeners will appreciate Augé’s transparency and enjoy his clever and unique approach to worship. Invisible Things is one of those albums that just gets better and better with each spin.
